How we think about the built environment, data, and BIM
We are convinced that the true value of buildings is not generated solely during implementation. Costs, risks, and returns predominantly arise during operations; therefore, in AFMTEC's approach, design, construction, and operations are parts of a unified lifecycle.
In this approach, BIM is not a goal, but a tool. As BIM experts, we create an information environment that ensures building-related data is consistently available throughout the entire lifecycle, supporting well-founded decision-making.
BIM experts throughout the entire construction lifecycle: our task is to ensure that the information generated during construction is accurate, standardized (e.g., managed according to ISO 19650), and usable in the long term during operations. We apply BIM as information management, which connects project stakeholders, reduces misunderstandings, and makes the entire process more transparent.

The center of our work is ensuring that information generated during construction remains usable during both implementation and operations. The goal is not the creation of the model itself, but the development of a structured, standardized information environment that supports the building’s entire lifecycle — from decision-making to operations.
It means that AFMTEC treats design, construction, and operations as a unified process. We apply BIM as an information management tool that accompanies the building’s journey and ensures data continuity between phases. This approach is particularly important for projects where operations, maintenance, and future modifications
Collaboration typically starts with a survey and status assessment, during which we learn about the project or organization’s operations, goals, and digital maturity level. This is followed by joint goal setting and the planning of BIM-based solutions. The emphasis is on gradual, controlled implementation, and on ensuring that the BIM methodology becomes part of daily operations rather than appearing as a standalone technological element.

We do not treat the standard as an administrative obligation, but as a framework that helps make information management transparent and auditable. Our experts provide support in establishing operations according to ISO 19650-2 and ISO 19650-3, as well as in preparing for certification.
